WAYS INTO NOVEL WRITING
(Fridays) April 22, 29, May 6, 13, 20, 27
Time: 10.30am-1pm
Venue: Studio 28, The Chocolate Factory, N22
Price: £90
Workshop practitioner: Sara Langham
This is a course aimed at anyone who has wanted to write a novel but hasn’t known how to begin or anyone who is interested in the process and would like to think about it now. Over the six weeks we’ll look at the mechanics of writing a novel: plot, character, setting, language. We’ll look at the many different forms the novel can take while considering the history of the novel, the novel today and its future. We will have a session on getting a novel published, the roles of agents, publishers, traditional publishing and e-publishing. Using novel extracts to guide us we will work on our own pieces with the aim that at the end of the six weeks we will have a solid foundation on which to continue. There will be plenty of opportunities to write, read and share our work in a positive and supportive environment. If you are a completely newcomer to writing or you have written before and would now like to think about tackling a novel then this course should set you on the right path.
