Creating Something for Young Londoners
Collage Arts youth programme aka ‘Creating Something for Young Londoners’ is supported by JPMorganChase Foundation and over the past year, in partnership with Bauer Media Academy we have been supporting over 200 young people to fulfil their creative aspirations, build industry skills and know-how, and progress into sustainable careers.
Most notably, we have supported 100 young musicians, spoken word artists, film makers, visual arts, photographers and designers aged from 16 to 30 through Collage Works, employability and enterprise unit at Collage Arts. Young creatives have been supported to develop their skills in creative and digital media, leading to qualifications and work experience, and bringing them closer to working with the creative and media industries.
Clock Your Skills is a flexible approach of practice-based skills recognition, this model has been used to accredit the work that young people are been putting together in creative practice or creative entrepreneurship. thereby recognising their skills and future proofing them for the growing creative and digital industries.
Toby Fernandes, manager on the project says:
“We bring together the power of young people with creative talent, resources and environment within which they can flourish at their own pace. This is alongside wraparound support from creative mentors reflective of their communities & backgrounds; and engagement with employers from the start.”
