Collage Arts turns 39

In our 39th year anniversary week, we reflect on our journey thus far…

Collage Arts’ ethos has always been driven by inclusive community arts, reviving of community spirit and sense of belonging; Creating environments that provide access for all sections of the community, ensuring no one is left behind; Harnessing a village of creative practitioners to support young and emerging artists of the future. We celebrate difference.

Despite every decade’s unique challenges, we have continued to positively impact over 39,000 people’s lives and built more resilient and thriving communities. We have supported thousands of artists, creative individuals and businesses; Developed five buildings that are home to affordable artists studios, charities and entrepreneurs who are inspirational, making a difference and building a better future; We have nurtured the next generation of artists and provided alternative routes to higher education, employment and enterprise; Empowered those hidden and furthest away from mainstream opportunities, using creativity as a tool for change and empowerment; Organised thousands of events, exhibitions, festivals and Open Studios; Led on mobility projects across Europe that have widened young adults’ horizons and aspriations; Shared our learning and practice with hundreds of commissioners, policy makers, politicians, organisations, networks and charities.

Many of the artists within our creative hub are experts working with cutting edge technologies, innovation, creative or crafts industries. Many are part of a supported community of practice, one individual within an eco-system of active learning and creativity. Many employ others and create paid opportunities in music, visual arts and the creative industries. Some have grown into creative companies employing 25+ people.

We understand the strength of partnerships, networks and collaborations. We firmly believe that organisations must be part of wider partnerships with trusted like-minded organisations, in order to build sustainable futures for themselves.

We recognise the strength of every member in our staff team and salute them for being a part of our journey.

We would like to thank our board of trustees for their contributions, continued support, advice and guidance.

Finally, we would like to thank and acknowledge our founding member and CEO, Manoj Ambasna, for his drive, vision, creativity and inspiration. As a community activist and champion for the arts, he has dedicated the last 39 years to Collage Arts (formerly Haringey Arts Council). We continue to appreciate his unwavering commitment, belief, contributions, mentorship and expertise.
