15th January – Haringey Literature Live – So you want to write features?

Have you got an idea for a great feature but are not sure how to get it off the ground? Perhaps you want tips for researching a subject or getting the best out of an interview. After a popular run in 2014, the journalism course is back for a 5 week run.
This course will cover all aspects of feature writing: sourcing compelling stories, following lines of research, getting the best interviews and writing punchy copy that entertains and informs. Your subject could be a local issue or something thatβs gripped national or global news platforms. Tips onΒ research, interview techniques, writing style, factΒ corroboration/legal issues will be given as well as showing you how to go on to pitch your feature.

Workshops are held in the wonderful Factory 21, a converted warehouse room atΒ Chocolate Factory 2, Coburg Road. They run in five-week cycles and spaces will be at a premium so emailΒ Haringey Literature Live Programme Co-ordinator, Kate Pemberton atΒ kate@collage-arts.orgΒ to state which course/courses youβd like to attend and she will reserve your place.
Courses cost Β£75 in advance for a five-session course. Sessions are weekly, on Thursdays, from 10am to 12.30pm.
The programme is designed so that attendees can work through each of the courses inΒ succession, or pick and choose courses as required.
