100 artists in 3 buildings open their doors
N22 OPEN STUDIOS 29 and 30 September 2018
Free Entry – Family friendly event
N22 Open Studios will see around 100 artists in 3 buildings opening their doors to the public.
Manoj Ambasna of Collage Arts said: “The Collage Artspaces that house the studios are in the Wood Green Cultural Quarter, less than 10 minutes walk from Wood Green tube station on the Piccadilly Line. At a time when artists’ workspaces across London are under great threat, we can celebrate a unique partnership with Big Issue Invest and Haringey Council which is safeguarding one of the largest studio groups in London. There is a strong understanding amongst the community and the council of the massive contribution the artists make to Wood Green, economically, socially and culturally. The artists and organisations in the Cultural Quarter make Wood Green a unique and exciting place to explore.”
The N22 Open Studios is now in its 22nd year. The studios show a great diversity in the work including painters, print-makers, photographers, designer-maker, jewellers, sculptors and ceramists. Some of the artists offer hands-on sessions. Many work to commission. So, whether you are looking to liven-up your wardrobe or your living space, or you are keen to come and meet the artists, we hope you are able to come and join us.
Please join Collage Arts in thanking the council for all its efforts to safeguard the artists studios provision in the Wood Green Cultural Quarter and sign our Thank You Card. www.n22openstudios.com/thank-you
This year the charity partner for N22 Open Studios is PramDepot. This arts-led charity was the brain-child of Collage artist Karen Whiteread. It redistributes high quality baby clothes and equipment to women in need of support during their first year of motherhood.
Whiteread has conceived two exhibitions in Karamel in Coburg Road, as part of the Spotlight on Asylum Festival. First, there is an installation of baby clothes hanging as if on washing lines, each one representing a baby that has received support.
The second exhibit consists of 125 images on the theme of angels. Artists from Collage have been joined by artists including Tracey Emin, Antony Gormley, Mark Wallinger, Rachel Whiteread and Alison Wilding. The auction closes 20 November 2018 at noon. www.spotlightonasylum.com/angel-auctions.
